Anne Rudloe, beloved marine biologist, co-founder of the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, writer and zen Buddhist, left a last book before her death in 2012 called “Zen in a Wild Country.” The words of this song were excerpted from that book and, with kind permission of her family, put to music by musical duo Hot Tamale.
The Gulf Specimen Lab in Panacea, Florida, continues to enthrall the public with science and nature and inspire environmental preservation on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
The stunning photography in the video was done by Ray Faass, former photographer for the Baltimore Zoo and the National Zoo, and husband of Hot Tamale singer Adrian Fogelin. His images capture the visual perfection of the place Anne Rudloe so loved.
Hot Tamale is an acoustic duo based in Tallahassee, Florida. Adrian Fogelin is an award-winning author of young adult fiction, educator and community activist. Craig Reeder is a retired accounting instructor at Florida A&M University.
